We welcome Rabiul Akhir today. A little something I've read about the month and would like to share.
Rabiul akhir means the final stretch of spring or the 2nd spring because in this month, the 2nd spring arrives after the 1st spring i.e. Rabiul Awwal, before called Shuwan.
1. Ibadah which is generally done in Rabiul Akhir. Specific ibadah or amal which is sunnah in the month of Rabiul Akhir is the similar to that of other sunnah amal in the other months. However, there are general ibadah to be done such as
(i) sadaqah (ii) to fast on Mondays and Thursdays (iii) to fast on the 13,14, and 15 of the month (iv) to increase in one's zikr (v) to recite the Quran
2.The Special Events of Rabiul akhir
(i) Victory for Islam in the battles of Najran, Al-Ghabah or Zi-Qarad and Al-Ghamar during the Prophet's time (s.a.w.)
(ii) During the Caliphate of Caliph Sayyidina Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, Damascus was opened by Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah r.a. and Khalid bin Walid r.a. during 14 Hijrah
(iii) In this month, Caliph Sayyidina Umar al Khattab was elected the Islamic Caliph after Sayyidina Abu Bakr.
We make a short dua for those in more challenging situations than us that they may be given respite and their stations in gratefulness and strength be elevated. We also pray that may our friends and family be given more sincerity and be in closer proximity to Al Rahman.
Amin.
